Surveillance Systems (CNS — Surveillance)
Surveillance provides air traffic controllers with real-time positional awareness of all aircraft within their airspace.
Service Overview
Surveillance provides air traffic controllers with real-time positional awareness of all aircraft within their airspace. Imperial East Africa deploys modern surveillance infrastructure — from legacy secondary radar systems through to next-generation ADS-B networks — enabling precise, low-latency airspace monitoring.
Scope of Services:
Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR)
Ground-based radar systems detecting all aircraft within a defined range, including those not equipped with transponders.
Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR / Mode S)
Transponder-based surveillance systems providing aircraft identity, altitude, and additional data beyond primary radar capability.
ADS-B Ground Infrastructure
Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast base station networks — receiving GPS-derived position data broadcast by ADS-B-equipped aircraft in real time. Intelcan's ADS-B systems are deployed across remote, offshore, and urban environments.
Multilateration (MLAT) Systems
Ground-based surveillance networks using time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) technology to track aircraft and vehicles on the airport surface with sub-metre accuracy.
Surface Movement Radar (SMR)
Airport surface detection equipment providing controllers with real-time awareness of aircraft and vehicles on runways and taxiways — critical for preventing runway incursions.
ATC Radar Data Processing
Software platforms for fusing, processing, and distributing radar and surveillance data to controller workstations and external systems.
