The global railway industry is undergoing a generational transition from GSM-R to the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) — a 5G-based railway communications standard that will underpin the next era of train control, automation, and passenger services. Scope of Services:
FRMCS Migration Strategy & Planning
Comprehensive assessment of existing GSM-R assets and development of a phased migration roadmap from GSM-R to FRMCS — minimising operational disruption and protecting existing infrastructure investment.
5G Railway Base Station Deployment
Nokia Flexi Multiradio 10 base stations are hardware-compatible with FRMCS — enabling operators to upgrade via software activation rather than full hardware replacement.
Parallel Operation (GSM-R & FRMCS)
Dual-mode network operation during the transition period, ensuring backward compatibility with existing GSM-R terminals while introducing FRMCS capability.
FRMCS Core Network
